It’s chrysanthemum season! Nurtured and cultivated from stock that’s been with us for over 7 years. registered organic @soilassociation - not your average garage fare but an explosion of texture, autumn colours shapes and sizes. From “ fireworks” to iridescent ambers. I’m a bit of a fan myself and oh how I wish I could get to Japan to see how really special these long lasting late flowers are truly grown.

I was the only British grower. I was the only one with dried flowers and foliage. I was the only one flying the flag for British flowers and growers. BUT - hey guys- florists would like more! Small growers need to work together to promote our wonderful products and make them accessible. Distributors and large wholesalers are welcoming and receptive to our flowers. We just need to be top top quality, grow in quantity and provide products that are different, quintessentially British and consistent for retail. Logistics can be overcome. Watch this space! And back to the farm I go…

I was different . I was the only British flower grower. I was the only one with dried flowers and foliage. I chatted to a Lot of florists and trade professionals and the general consensus is they would like to see more. Have choice and use our products. More work needs to be done but it’s onward and upwards!

Okay, so I’m meant to be cutting grass…. The last of the sweet peas are MINE 😊 actually mostly they are mine anyway as for some reason they aren’t the best commercial crop for me. Fair enough really as they don’t travel well and don’t last all that long in a vase. BUT one I’d never be without and for a special one off bunch, a wedding where vine is the word, a gentle flowing memorial arrangement and the most amazing perfume- they are unsurpassed. So- a t shirt full of registered organic seed us heading into the store with me. It’s actually the one flower I really am most happy to see arrive each year. What’s your favourite?
