She attracted tonnes of attention and so many folk @powderham this weekend admired her and said how nice it was that stand holders make such an effort to decorate their stalls and showcase their skills. Now for the next one!

It’s taken a while to get to this point and time is ticking! The flower dragon is now ready for phase two- don my gloves and get the clay mixed! Nest and wings to build once the sculpture is ready. Big reveal at our first show @tobygardenfest Powderham 1st May. So I’d better get a move on! Our special plants for drying flowers will be on offer for you to purchase with smiles and advice alongside some of our dried items ready to use. See you there.❤️

This coming weeks offerings from wards farm- calla

This coming weeks offerings from wards farm- calla Lillie’s in white, corncockle in deep pink or white, cerinthe. Sweet Williams on the way and sweet peas on the vine will need a week or two to harden up for vase life. We always start slowly as bulb/corm crops aren’t our specialty. Filler of all sorts of cress and ammi a couple of weeks away but promising a good crop.

While the family goes skiing I’m happy to to do this in peace. My first sour dough perfected 🎉 now to keep the skills, try some cinnamon rolls and cheese scone recipes. Anyone out there have a fab chocolate brownie recipe? I’m struggling to find a top one. Oh for the tasting though😋 our bakery stand will soon be up and running I hope. It should help ease my “out of season” lull on the lodge and the fresh flowers.

Saturday small win- I actually baked a loaf of bread by hand that we can eat! Okay- still needs practice but hey- I’ll get this by the time I’m 70 😊 now ….. what else can I bake to force the family to eat?……..

Some people question why we farm to organic certif

Some people question why we farm to organic certification- especially with the flowers. I know I do! There’s piles of paperwork and rules, not to mention the cost. Yes- I could just say “ no sprays or chemicals used here “ but it’s more than that. Often people are astounded when I explain how it all works as a whole. More details to follow…..
